I’ve been lucky to do a lot of fun, even groundbreaking things during my career. Pitch ideas
to executives at major entertainment companies, collaborate with amazing artists, create 26 episodes of a national TV show from start to finish, shoot live-action in the Arabian peninsula, work on daily promos at CBS, even took home an Emmy Award in 2004 as the creative director for ESPN’s 25th Anniversary on-air graphics campaign. So many interesting people - so many creative challenges and technological advancements. The daydreaming gig is working out.
Shortly after I earned my bachelor's degree in Advertising Design in 1992, I moved to LA
and began working in television, creating national and international motion graphics and promotional campaigns for leading SoCal agencies specialized in media and entertainment.
In 2001, I co-founded Troika Design Group in Hollywood. Within a few short years the firm jumped to the top of the entertainment branding community and provided me with amazing opportunities to lead the creative on hallmark projects including HGTV, NBC and the NFL.
In 2008, after 15 years in television, I was ready for a change. Driven by my desire to spend
more time with our young children, I moved from the fast paces of the entertainment sector
in search of something with more flexibility. My new role meant first calls for elevated temps, left-behind lunches and kindergarten art classes.
During this time I formed MB Creative Inc, to service a small roster of clients that needed
marketing solutions for digital, TV, print, outdoor and environmental graphics. And most recently have expanded my video production efforts through the launch of MB Creative F1LMS, where I am excited to connect with like-minded clients looking for engaging video production scaled to fit their needs. These entrepreneurial experiences have informed my service-focused goals balanced with high standards for creative production.
Today, my role as director means I am able to call on the various pieces in the creative toolbox,
some collected through years of practice, some are extensions of my personality. I particularly enjoy conversing with and coaching the people on the other side of the camera as we aim
for a natural and comfortable shooting experience. I call on a talented group of writers,
cinematographers and editors to keep the quality high and my efforts focused on client goals and creative oversight. The stories we share are special, something I am honored to help convey as we collaborate and work to connect to each audience...each individual.
When the office is closed, I enjoy home restoration, play keyboard and sing vocals in a classic rock cover band, play regular tennis, occasional golf, watch (way too many) historical and sport documentaries, listen to a lot of stand up comics, volunteer with the Glendale Historical Society and several community youth programs. And undoubtedly my favorite projects to date are two smart and sporty teenage kids and my beautiful wife Sharla, who cooks a mean chili.
